Use Smart Doc to document and optimize compaction processes

Increase quality while reducing energy consumption HAMM has developed a range of solutions for measuring, documenting and analyzing compaction processes. This include the "Smart Doc" app, which is being presented for the first time in North America at CONEXPO/CON-AGG. It supports process optimization and is a valuable tool for documenting compaction and self-monitoring.

Smart Doc from HAMM is a free Android app for transparent compaction documentation and self-monitoring. Users can share the compaction result with third parties since Smart Doc can be used to generate and send a compaction report at any time. This means that construction companies can verifiably achieve high-quality compaction in earthworks with required basic continuous compaction control, because Smart Doc meets the requirements of continuous compaction control (CCC).

Positioning via smartphone or smart receiver

The app combines data from the machine control system with the positioning data. During the compaction process, important process parameters and the compacting progress are displayed and recorded on a smartphone or tablet. The GNSS receiver of the terminal device can be used to determine the position. For professional use in day-to-day operations, however, HAMM recommends the Smart Receiver, a GNSS receiver specially designed for construction applications.

Process optimization included

The "compaction maps" that are recorded show users at a glance where still needs to be compacted. Consequently, the system has proven itself to be a useful tool for training new drivers. At the same time, the number of passes is optimized, since the occurrence of double passes is reduced by approximately 30%. This in turn reduces the diesel consumption and, ultimately, the CO2 emissions. Over the course of 2023, HAMM will offer additional functions, including networking of the rollers on the construction site (M2M = machine to machine) and data exchange via cloud (M2C = machine to cloud).

Available for asphalt and soil compactors

Currently, Smart Doc can be used and retrofitted in the H CompactLine series, the HC CompactLine series, the H series, the HC series, the HD+ series, and the HX series. Smart Doc can even be used to document the double passes on machines from other manufacturers. The app can be installed via the Google Play Store on all Android smartphones and tablets from Android 6.0. It is available in English, Spanish, French and German.
